Design Technical FAQ
Question Answer
What are the inputs required for Design & Development services? Product key features, input/output details (voltage, current, etc.), and end application.
What is a schematic? A schematic is a representation of system elements using abstract, graphic symbols instead of realistic pictures.
What is BOM (Bill of Material)? A Bill of Materials is a list of all needed parts for manufacturing, including designator, description, part numbers, footprint, and quantities.
How do I decide how many layers my design needs?
  • Single-Layer PCB: Basic circuits.
  • Double-Layer PCB: Moderate designs.
  • Multilayer PCB (up to 16 layers): Advanced/high-speed/compact designs.
Other factors: signal integrity, space, power management, budget.
What are the deliverables for Design and Development? Schematic, Bill of Material, Gerber files, Assembly Instructions, Firmware, Testing Reports.
Production & Services
Question Answer
What do you mean by Layers? PCBs have one or more layers of dielectric and conductive materials, carrying circuits for electronics.
Do you support minor changes after production order is confirmed? Generally, no changes after order placement. In rare cases, minor changes may be considered depending on production status. Please review your design before ordering.
What is TG? Temperature gradient: the rate and direction of temperature change around a location.
What is the Dispatch Unit (PCB)? The final manufactured PCB form: Single Board or Panel.
What is Board Thickness? The finished PCB board’s thickness.
What is Start Cu Thickness? Preset copper thickness on raw material for bare board manufacturing.
Layer count Maximum supported is 32 layers.
Standard & expedited lead times? Lead times: 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 28 days.
Do you offer turnkey, consigned, or kitted assembly? Yes, we support fabrication, component procurement, and assembly.
Can you handle HDI, rigid-flex, or aluminium-core PCBs? Yes.
Do you offer DFM reviews? Yes (DFM Report).
Minimum trace width and spacing? Standard: 0.10 / 0.10 mm (critical: 0.05 / 0.05 mm).
Minimum mechanical and laser drill sizes? Standard: 0.15–0.25mm (critical: 0.1mm).
Materials & Surface Finishes FR4 (Std, Medium & High TG), 370HR, Iteq 180A, Rogers, etc.
What is Surface Finish? Coating between components and PCB to ensure solderability and protect exposed copper.
Available surface finishes? HAL, Leadfree HAL, ENIG, OSP.
High-frequency or high-Tg materials? Yes. FR4 High TG > 170°C, Rogers for RF.
Support blind, buried, via-in-pad? Yes, 1 + N + 1; internal layers connectivity leaving top & bottom layer.
Max copper thickness inner/outer layers? Max 4oz.
Max aspect ratio for plated through holes? Aspect ratio 12:01 (critical: 16:01).
Controlled impedance? Tolerance? Yes, tolerance ±10% (critical ±5%).
What is Impedance? Opposition a circuit presents to current when voltage is applied.
What is Impedance Control? Characteristic impedance of transmission line formed by PCB conductors for signal integrity.
Assembly
Question Answer
Do you provide stencil manufacturing for SMT assembly? Yes, both plastic and stainless steel stencils.
Where do you source components? Industry-known suppliers like Mouser, Element-14, Digi-Key, and others.
Are your prices cost-effective? Yes, driven by efficient processes and scale economies.
Can you buy from my supplier? Yes, but we request you send the components with original packing for assembling.
Can I order only components? Yes, component-only orders are accepted.
What is an SMD Component? Surface-mount device, mounted directly onto PCB surface. Usually smaller than through-hole components.
What is a Through Hole Component? Mounted with leads inserted into drilled PCB holes and soldered on the opposite side.
What is a BGA Package? Ball-Grid Array, a surface-mount packaging system for ICs offering more interconnections.
What is a TQFP Package? Thin Quad Flat Package, a standardized package with various body sizes and lead counts.
What is “Assembly Side”? Specifies component assembly on top, bottom, or both sides of the PCB.
What is “Stencil Side”? Indicates which side requires a stencil for SMD components.
What is conformal coating? Polymeric film applied to boards for protection against humidity, heat, corrosion, and contamination.
Why is conformal coating important? Enhances durability, reliability, and protection against harsh conditions.
Do you assemble partial components? Yes, include only required components in your BOM for partial assembly orders.
Can you convert finished through-hole design to surface mount? Contact support@teqtisinfo.com to check feasibility.
